Teen Addiction
"Addiction. You're like a hostage who has developed an irrational affection for your captor.
They abuse you, torture you, even threaten to kill you, and
you'll remain inexplicably and disturbingly loyal"
-Georges Simenon

Our Vision, Our Mission!
To create awareness of the ongoing problem of teen addiction in Hawaii. To educate our students, parents, and community members about the negative effects of drug use and substance abuse among teens. Introducing prevention programs like D.A.R.E and Stay Humble Pray, to reduce drug use among teens. To prevent addiction among teens, before it's too late. Including possible treatments and rehab centers, with hope to motivate teens who are addicted, to seek professional help. We care about our teenage students, their health, their present, and their future.
Teen Addiction
Addiction can be classified as substance use disorder in which a person has difficulty controlling the urge to use drugs. It can be mistakenly believed that addicted people lack moral principles and that they are able quit if they really wanted to. This is false because addiction affects the persons brains neurons and connections which makes it very difficult for them to quit. It takes more than just the persons choice to quit. Teenagers are more prone to becoming addicted because their brains have not fully developed and they are the main targets. Teens will be peer pressured by others and start consuming light drugs and soon they will build tolerance and try stronger drugs. Eventually, teens are addicted and they can not get out of this behavioral pattern.
