For the past 22 years Konawaena art students have been painting murals on campus and
throughout the South Kona community.
Summer of 2024 Community Mural Project
Mahalo to Friends of the Future for their support to refurbish the 20212 mural "Never Again" at Konawaena Elementary School. Thanks to student volunteers and instructor Michelle Obregon, the fading mural was brought back to life.
All the children painted in the mural were students at Konawaena during 2012.

New Mural ! 2024
Check out the new Queen Liliuokalani mural in the main building.
The mural features the lyrics to Aloha'oe that was composed by Queen Liliuokalani, the crown flower and a black and white portrait of the queen.

Interactive butterfly wing mural and Ma Ka hana ka 'ke mural in front of college and career office.
Summer of 2023
New aquatic themed mural at the Hungry Honu Restaurant in Kailua Kona.
Students help paint the outside mural with honu, coral fish, octopus and jellyfish. A monk seal and manta rays are also depicted on the adjoining walls.

During the summer of 2023 , students volunteered their time painting a colorful mural in front of the leadership class with the help of Mrs. Obregon.

Aloha Mural: Main building
The Aloha mural was finally completed in the winter of 2022. The pandemic halted the painting which was designed by former student Anthony under the direction of Michelle Obregon, art instructor.
Water Warrior Mural
Konawaena HS invites you to take a selfie in front of the schools first interactive mural on campus. Located in front of the pool, the mirrored waves gives everyone a chance to be part of the mana of the ocean without getting wet!
