Konawaena High School holds a deep-rooted tradition with Kona Coffee, dating back to the days when our school had a coffee schedule. Due to the Great Depression, in 1932 Konawaena High School instituted a new schedule aligned with the coffee-picking season. As 90% of the residents in the area worked in the coffee industry, this unique connection to the heart of Kona's coffee heritage is something we cherish. We’re very honored to have had the opportunity to represent this legacy by actively participating in the Kona Coffee Festival events.

12-06-2023: Winter Action Assembly
Diligent students, fueled by their amazing work ethic, showcased their talents at the winter assembly with an unforgettable performance. With dedication and perseverance, they presented a mesmerizing rendition of "Mele Kalikimaka," engaging the audience in the warm spirit of the holiday season. Transitioning seamlessly, these hardworking performers then captivated the crowd with a dynamic display of our traditional Polynesian culture, delivering a spirited performance of "Siva Samoa” directed by Aunty Siu. Our Polynesian Club has left a lasting impression on the school community and has helped to create a festive atmosphere that resonates with the joy of this winter season.

March 8, 2024: The Konawaena Showcase, featuring our Konawaena Polynesian Club, presented an amazing opportunity for students to display their journeys and talents. Representing our club and making future events possible is not just an honor but also a responsibility we hold dear. The support and encouragement from our school’s community have been essential in our success and we are grateful for all of those who have helped us succeed in today’s fundraising journey.

At Konawaena High School, May Day is a cherished tradition celebrated with vibrant performances and joyful festivities. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated advisors and educators whose guidance made this event possible.
•Uncle Afa and Uncle Sefa for teaching our boys their Samoan/fireknife number and providing them with costumes.
•Aunty Siu for teaching our girls the beautiful Himene and Otea dances, along with supporting our club by providing lunch weekly.
•Kealakehe students for taking time out of their day to LIVE drum for our fireknife dancers.
Congratulations to our officers for their exceptional leadership throughout the year, and to all participants for their enthusiasm and talent showcased during this memorable celebration. 🤍🌸💚

School Year 2022-2023:
- Konawaena Monarch Butterfly Festival: On Friday, February 17th, the CTE Department at Konawaena HS, with Ms. Oregon at the helm, held the Konawaena Monarch Butterfly Festival. We, the Poly Club, was one of many booths there. We had musubis and lollipops. The club shared mele and dances from Polynesia, had a visual display, and we also had four of our boys teaching interested students to fire knife. We want to encourage students at our school to become a part of our poly club ohana, we’d like to give a big mahalo to the people that have helped planned, donated, and participated with us today
