AVID Elective Class Description
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a college-preparatory academic elective course that helps students develop skills for college success:
  • Curriculum
  • AVID provides a rigorous curriculum that focuses on academic success skills, critical thinking, writing, teamwork, organization, reading, and note-taking.
  • Instruction
  • Students receive daily instruction and twice-weekly tutoring support from AVID-trained tutors.

  • Students participate in motivational activities, study groups, and college field trips.
  • Career exploration
  • Students learn about career opportunities through research, guest speakers, and the curriculum.
  • College application
  • Students learn about the college application and financial aid processes. 
AVID is offered at more than 2,500 high schools in the United States. Students usually take AVID throughout high school with the same group of students. 
Fashion Design Course Description
​This hands-on course invites students to explore the creative process behind fashion, from concept to creation. Over the semester, students will learn the fundamentals of design, including sketching, fabric selection, and garment construction.

  • Fashion Illustration: Develop drawing skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
  • Textiles and Materials: Understand fabric types, properties, and how they influence design.
  • Sewing Techniques: Master essential sewing skills, from basic stitches to advanced construction methods.
