Konawaena High School SCC Minutes 5/15/06
 
Present: Verna Yamabe, Randall Yamabe, Reg Morimoto, Lydia Woerner, Kimberly Manago, Britney Manago, Karen Harrison, Debbie Hedemann, Karen Heinecke, Marianne Rho, Shawn Suzuki
 
Minutes from 4/10/06 meeting reviewed with one revision under Attendance Policy, first bullet: the word "okay" deleted and replace with “…could be justified via the SCC Waiver Policy”.  Revised minutes attached.
 
SCC Representatives, School Year 2006 – 2007:
- Teacher Representatives:  Lydia Woerner, 1 year, Norma Matsumoto, 2 year, and Bob Rossman, Alternate
- Community Representative: Reggie Morimoto
- Parent Representatives: Debbie Hedemann, 1 year, Randy Yamabe, 2 year, and Karen Harrison, Alternate
- Classified Representative: Karen Heinecke, 1 year, Sherry Nagai, 2 year, and Gordon Grace, Alternate
- Student Representative: Britney Manago
 
Drug dogs on campus:
- Requires approval of the Superintendent
- Possible to include drug education in the Peer Education curriculum beginning SY ’06-’07
- Consider gathering information about drug use on campus through an anonymous teacher and student drug survey
- Base a course of action on data
- Shawn to gather disciplinary data, and the state drug & alcohol survey data
- Discussion was Tabled and will be continued at next SCC meeting
 
Attendance Policy:
- Konawaena Attendance and Participation Policy and Procedures 5/15/06 DRAFT distributed
- Phone attendance system should be up and running next school year
- Discussion on tardy resulted in a recommendation to remove all reference to “lock-out” procedures
- Under Procedures, I. Definitions, and B. Tardy: decrease the number of minutes to five minutes or less
- All SCC component representatives to distribute copies of Draft 1 making clear that it’s incomplete. 
- Shawn will revise Draft 1 for next meeting (teachers will provide input on policy via their department meetings)
