SCC Minutes 3/13/06
4:05 p.m. Meeting called to order.
Present: Karen Heinecke, Lydia Woerner, Valerie Izuno, Debbie Hedemann, Margaret
Masunaga, Marianne Rho, Shawn Suzuki, Kimberly Manago
Minutes from 2/13/06 meeting accepted.
Clarification of Principal’s Role on the School Community Council (SCC)
from: Katherine T. Kawaguchi, Assistant Superintendent, distributed to all present.
Election Status:
* Teacher’s Representative – Marianne Rho will get clarification
of the 2-year and alternate elected representatives
* Classified Representative – Requests for nominations went out today with
3/17/06 deadline. Elections to be held within the first 2 weeks of April
* Parent’s Representative – Requests went home and 3/17/06 the deadline
for nominations. Ballots to be mailed home with report cards the second
Monday or Tuesday of April.
* KSG elections to be held in April
Attendance:
* Shawn gave brief summary of Pearl Ridge High School’s, Hilo High School’s,
and Waikea High School’s attendance policies
* Review and discussion of Konawaena High School’s last attendance policy
* Component representatives to poll staff, students, parents, and community
members for input to be shared at 4/10/06 meeting.
The next SCC meeting to be held on April 10, at 4:00 in the library.
Proposed Agenda:
1. Suggestions, recommendation, etc. to consider for
the development of a participation/attendance policy
2. Review the Saturday School proposal submitted by
Jim Denight, VP
3. New Business – Drug detecting dogs on campus
