A GREAT WEEKEND FOR WILDCAT SPORTS.......LAST UPDATE SEPTEMBER 8 ,2011
The following is a recap of perhaps one of the most outstanding weekends
in the recent history of Konawaena High School, Sports.
Football wins 28-21, with second half heroics, against heavily favored
HPA. The Wildcats trailed 21-0 at the half on the Ka Makani's home turf,
and mounted an inspired second half effort and picked up 4 TDs and capped
the victory with an outstanding goal line stand in the waning moments of
the game.
The Wildcats featured a strong defensive performance where the "no
star system" overwhelmed the much larger HPA frontline and holding
the vaunted HPA offense to a -14 yards rushing in the second half.
The
offense contributed with outstanding performances my the entire team.
Girls Volleyball, remain undefeated in BIIF west side action with a 3 set
sweep of Kanu `O Ka`Aina New Century, from Waimea, on Saturday.
Boys and Girls Bowling had strong performances against the visiting Kamehameha-Hawaii
and St. Joseph School. Rodney Torres,
led the boys in a two match sweep,
as the high scorer, (6) 200 + games.
Girl's Cross country runner, 9th Grader Shayli Nakamoto, finished in the
top twenty in the all school BIIF meet at HPA. This was Shayli's first
high school meet.
Boys and Girls Air Rifle dominanted the west side meet on Saturday at Konawaena,
Kellan Kadooka, scores top marks in the match,
with victories over Kealakehe,
Laupahoehoe and Mauka Lani.
Girl's Basketball is proud to announce, senior standouts, Dawnyelle Awa
and Lia Galderia have both accepted full scholarship offers to attend Washington
State University in Pullman, WA . Dawnyelle and Lia, who have led the Wildcats
to two state championships, visited the PAC 12 campus this past weekend
and made WSU their choice to continue their education and baskeball careers.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS who have represented us so well.

Saturday 9/10 Varsity Volleyball @ St. Joseph School, Hilo 6 PM
